Applications for 2026–27 are closed. Students who are already in the tryout process should use the details below to feel prepared and steady.

What to expect
Practice the parts that matter
Leadership team members and Langley mentors will provide feedback during both rounds.
- 01Practice your speechesGive a 2–3 minute constructive, then Summary or Final Focus based on your speaker assignment. Stand, emphasize key points, and look up; you do not need to memorize it.
- 02Prepare for CrossfirePrepare useful questions for both sides and practice answering likely questions clearly.
- 03Impacts and weighingCompare scope, magnitude, and probability, then choose the most important argument to highlight in your final two-minute speech.
Before you arrive
Talk it through
Talk about data centers with family members, neighbors, or friends. Their common-sense questions will help you test your explanations and understand the issue in practical terms.
You have already researched and written arguments with reasons and evidence for both sides. Team decisions will be shared later that week.
